Why do people like Lady Gaga?

Her songs are just standard pop/dance music wrapped up as if they have meaning. She started off creating this hair-rippingly annoying persona where she acted like she needed to be institutionalized. Then she realized the I love gay people! I love ugly people! I love God! I am an outcast just like you! attitude attracted a lot more of a following. Isn't everyone bored of the childish and sometimes ignorant and tasteless(see meat dress) costumes we have to look at, shat all over the media. And, insult to injury, actual musicians like Elton John and Ozzy Osbourne have publically praised her. All I see is a little rich girl whose confidence in herself is so great, she has actually convinced the world that she is a legitimate artist.
