Why would a monarchy be a better system of government than a republic?

that's good. you should also remember a republic is a combination of all traditional forms of government. ie aristocracy, monarchy, and democracy. or rule by the one, the few, and the many. that is we elect a king per se. this is smart because the advantage of the monarchy is their leaders can act quickly to threats to the nation. the trick then is to limit the bad parts of a monarchy. mainly their oppression of its citizens to the rulers. what make our republic so great is that we have a bill of rights, the government is separated into competing branches know as the separation of power and these branches each have checks and balances on the other to ensure the balance of power. monarchs dont have these precaution nor does a monarch want them. also the fact the we can amend out supreme law is very important for when their might be a crisis that would be fraught with war instead of words. most monarchy's leaders are chosen by blood relation which doesn't ensure an enlighten ruler, of course neither does election of the king or in our case president. but in general president have had ivy league educations, or won very important wars.
