Does anyone know of a good freeware antivirus that runs from a usb drive?

Someone gave me a PC that is filled with viruses and it disabled the cd drive completely. I have attempted to install AV and Malware scanners, but it prevents them from running from the hard drive. It seems to be a nasty virus and my only thought is running a scan from a USB if possible.
