Need warm boots for NY, help please?

So, Christmas night, I'm leaving for New York. I live in Texas, so I know I'm gonna be FREEZING! I was planning on getting boots sort of like these: a href="http://www.stevemadden.com/item.aspx?id=46682" rel="nofollow"http://www.stevemadden.com/item.aspx?id=…/a (In Brown or Purple, I couldn't decide) But, suede isn't good for snow. I'm 14, and don't think leather (or a leather looking matieral) would be age appropiate. Can you please help me find some age appropiate, non suede, flat, brown boots? Thanks.
